History & Heritage

Community leaders in Mzuzu and a group of Malawians living in the USA had a ‘dream’ to build an internationally accredited secondary school in Mzuzu, Malawi.

Recognizing that northern Malawi had a shortage of quality educational institutions, Anna Msowoya Keys spearheaded the effort to build Mzuzu Academy. The journey began in 2003. Despite many challenges, Mrs. Keys and her team triumphed. Mzuzu Academy opened its doors in September 2010.

The vision for Mzuzu Academy goes beyond academic excellence. Mzuzu International Academy was founded to provide students with a ‘whole’ education -- one that focuses on academic rigor, social development and moral growth. Mzuzu International Academy promises to produce not only university ready students but also future leaders who have strong moral compasses and are committed to giving back to the communities in which they live.

Located just outside Mzuzu, Malawi, our idyllic setting is the perfect environment for young students to learn and grow.  We value our students and their abilities and know they can make valuable contributions to our school and society. At Mzuzu Academy, we are dedicated to creating a new generation of leaders.
